An annual event named “Khangham te Pahtawini,” which means “Appreciating Our Lovely Grandparents,” was arranged by our Women’s Department. The Women’s Department extends an invitation to all Zomi Ethnic people who are 60 years of age or older on this day, offering transportation as necessary. During that time, a service is performed where grandparents are presented with various presents, and the Women’s Department prepares events like games and concerts.
Some of the seniors that attended enjoyed singing and performing, so during the service they were given a chance to do so. They were also given a chance to speak about their lives and attest to how great God is in them. They often have a huge meal to close the day.
The purpose of this custom is to express our gratitude to our grandparents for all of their efforts and for raising our parents and siblings so that we could all be where we are today.
